HiveMind AI vs HiveBook
Last verified 2026-08-12, from hivebook.app directly. Competitor pricing and features change without notice; if you find something out of date here, tell us and we will fix it.
HiveBook is a polished hobbyist hive log with an unusually cheap paid tier and, since 2026, a dedicated AI plan. It is probably the closest price anchor to us in the category, which makes this a comparison worth doing carefully.
What HiveBook offers
As of 2026-08-12, read from their own pricing:
- Free: $0, capped at 5 hives. Includes inspection logging, treatment records, harvest tracking, queen management, expense tracking, tasks and calendar, iCloud backup.
- Pro: $4.99/month or $39.99/year, unlimited hives and apiaries. Adds analytics, a bloom calendar, equipment management, CSV/PDF exports, tax reports, compliance reports.
- Premium: $9.99/month or $79.99/year. This is the AI tier: daily AI apiary briefing, AI chat assistant, health anomaly detection, harvest predictions, AI receipt scanning, weather-triggered task planning, per-hive profitability analysis, and team collaboration.
- All plans list a 14-day free trial.
Credit where due: Pro at $4.99 with unlimited hives is one of the cheapest capable hive logs anywhere, and their Free tier includes expense tracking, which ours does not.
Where the two products differ
Where the AI sits. On HiveBook, AI is the $9.99 tier. On HiveMind AI, every plan has AI, including Free (8 uses a day): the assistant, voice-filled inspections, and on paid plans receipt scanning. Our Business plan ($18.99/month) has no daily AI limit at all. If you want to try what AI is actually like against your own hive records before paying anything, that difference is the whole ballgame.
The selling side. HiveBook tracks expenses and harvests. As of our August 2026 review of its published features, it does not offer a sales pipeline: no bottling runs, no inventory that depletes when you sell, no sales log, no customer records or waitlist. HiveMind AI joins the hive records to the honey business: a jar traces back through a bottling run and a harvest batch to the hives that filled it, and the sales log works at a market table.
Free tier size. Ours is double theirs, 10 hives to their 5, and ours includes the AI allowance. Theirs includes expenses. Both are honest, permanent free tiers rather than trials.
Overlap to be fair about. HiveBook Premium's daily AI briefing, weather-aware planning, and receipt scanning overlap features we ship (our daily briefing, nectar flow, and bloom calendar live on Business; receipt scanning starts at Pro). They are real features on both sides. The difference is what the AI can see: theirs reads hive records, ours also reads harvests, sales, customers, and expenses, because it has them.

When to choose HiveBook instead
Choose HiveBook if you want the cheapest unlimited hive log on the market and do not sell honey: $4.99 for Pro is a genuinely good deal for a hobbyist who wants analytics and exports. Its Free tier is also the right pick if expense tracking at $0 matters more to you than AI or more hives.
Choose HiveMind AI when you want AI without a dedicated tier for it, or when honey money enters the picture: the harvest-to-sale records, the customers who come back every fall, and the Schedule F trail. See plans.
