HiveSense is an offline-first hive logger with the most generous free tier in the category and Bluetooth support for BroodMinder hive sensors. It is a well-made product with a clear identity, and for a specific kind of beekeeper it is the better choice. Here is the honest split.
What HiveSense offers
As of 2026-08-12, read from their own site:
- Free: $0, up to 15 hives, offline logging with voice notes.
- Hobbyist: $3.99/month or $34.99/year, up to 30 hives, adds team collaboration.
- Pro: $8.99/month or $74.99/year, unlimited hives, full feature set.
- Business: for 100+ hive operations, with multi-apiary dashboards and team seats carrying viewer, technician, and admin roles. No price listed on the page.
- Paid tiers include BLE sensor support (BroodMinder), AI-powered insights, treatment logging, and CSV/PDF export. Voice notes run on-device.
Two things deserve plain credit: a 15-hive free tier is 50% larger than ours (10), and HiveSense is the only app in this comparison set with hive sensor integration. If you run BroodMinder scales or temperature sensors, HiveSense speaks to them and HiveMind AI does not.
Where the two products differ
What happens after the honey leaves the hive. HiveSense is a field logger, and a good one. As of our August 2026 review of its published features, it does not offer harvest-to-sale records: no bottling runs, no inventory, no sales log, no customers, no expense trail. HiveMind AI's whole premise is that pipeline: harvest batches with moisture readings, bottling runs, an inventory that depletes as you sell, and customer records. If you sell honey, that is the decision.
What the voice input produces. Both apps let you talk instead of type. HiveSense records voice notes with on-device transcription. HiveMind AI's voice fill goes a step further: it turns the dictation into the structured inspection record itself (queen evidence, brood pattern, stores, pests), which you confirm before it saves. A transcript is a note; a filled form is data you can query and chart.
What the AI knows. HiveSense lists AI-powered insights on paid tiers. HiveMind AI's assistant is grounded in your complete records, hives through sales, and every plan includes it, Free included (8 uses a day; no daily limit on Business).
Both work offline. HiveSense has made offline its identity and does it well. HiveMind AI captures inspections offline in the beeyard and syncs when you are back in range. We will call this one shared ground rather than claim an edge.

When to choose HiveSense instead
Choose HiveSense if you run hive sensors: it is the app in this comparison that reads them. Choose it too if you want the biggest free tier in the category for a pure hive log, or the cheapest paid entry ($3.99) and thirty hives is plenty. For a non-selling beekeeper who lives in the yard and loves gear, it is a genuinely strong fit.
Choose HiveMind AI when the records need to follow the honey past the extractor: batches, bottling, inventory, sales, customers, and an assistant that has read all of it. See plans.
