HiveMind AI vs HiveTracks

HiveTracks is one of the oldest names in beekeeping software (founded 2010, and its site claims 40,000+ users across 150 countries). It is a capable, established hive tracker with a genuinely fair price. If you are choosing between us, here is the honest picture.

What HiveTracks offers

As of 2026-08-12, read from their own Pro page:

  • A free mobile app for basic inspection tracking.
  • HiveTracks Pro at $6.99/month or $69.99/year, with a 30-day free trial.
  • Pro includes multi-user access and exportable reports; the page states no hive limit.
  • The company has been building AI features (voice, chat, plant and pollinator identification) and has a growing focus on biodiversity and environmental monitoring.

That is a lower monthly price than our Pro plan ($7.99/month), and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Where the two products differ

The selling side. HiveTracks tracks hives. As of our August 2026 review of its published feature set, it does not offer harvest-to-sale records: no bottling runs, no inventory, no sales log, no customer records, no expense tracking toward a Schedule F. HiveMind AI is built around exactly that pipeline; hive records are where it starts, not where it ends. If you sell honey, even a card table's worth, this is the actual decision point between the two apps.

What the AI is grounded in. Both products invest in AI. HiveMind AI's assistant answers from your own records: your hives, your inspections, your harvests, your sales, plus your yard's weather. Ask "which hive is my best producer?" or "what did I treat with last fall?" and the answer comes from your data. Every plan includes a daily AI allowance, Free included.

Roles. On HiveMind AI's paid plans, each member signs in as themselves with a real role (owner or worker, plus job functions like bookkeeper), so a helper can log inspections without holding the keys to the sales ledger. HiveTracks Pro lists multi-user access; its page does not describe a permission model, so we simply cannot compare that half.

Offline. HiveMind AI is built to capture inspections offline in the yard and sync later.

When to choose HiveTracks instead

Choose HiveTracks if you want a hive log from the longest-established vendor in the category at the lowest price for what it does, if their biodiversity and plant-identification direction matches your interests, or if you simply do not sell honey and never plan to. It is a good product with more than fifteen years of history, and at $6.99 for an uncapped hive log it is honestly priced.

Choose HiveMind AI when the honey leaves the yard: the harvest batches, the moisture readings, the bottling runs, the market-table sales log, and an assistant that has actually read your records. See plans.
